So giving back Americans $1500 is suppose to “jump start the economy”?
Boy does this p.o. the Swiss_Mouse.
First off, even people who pay NO TAXES are getting back $300! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? TOO damn bad. The Swiss_Mouse doesn’t care if it’s unfair. If you didn’t pay in, you shouldn’t be […]

Damn you, Prudential Financial!
January 23rd, 2008 · No Comments
Years ago the Swiss_Mouse and Mrs. Swiss_Mouse bought insurance from Prudential. We were young and the cheddar was flowing.
Not knowing much about insurance, we asked family members for advise. Looking back..oh my.
Dear 1990’s Swiss_Mouse,
Do not listen to the in-laws.
Sincerely,
2000’s Swiss_Mouse
We purchase policies through the agent that sold to Mrs. Swiss_Mouse’s family. The Swiss_Mouse realized a […]

Compact Fluorescent Conversion Complete
January 23rd, 2008 · No Comments
The Swiss_Mouse has completely converted all his bulbs over to CFL lights.
Almost all. All floods and regular lights. Only dimmable lights and decorative bulbs are not converted. Sure, it’s dimmer at first than it used to be, and no warning is on the package that you will stub your toes over and over again until […]

Bad Economy? Bull!
January 21st, 2008 · 3 Comments
The Swiss_Mouse constantly hears about what a bad economy we have in the United States.
Bull!
Here is Swiss_Mouse’s proof (dispute if you will):
Every restaurant in the entire metropolitan area where the Swiss_Mouse lives is almost always full on Friday and Saturday nights. Proof? YES! Look, if people have more than enough money to go and shell […]

Ethics Schmethics
January 17th, 2008 · No Comments
The Swiss_Mouse loves going to company meetings.
They are the “theater of the absurd”.
Recently, the Swiss_Mouse attended a meeting by the HR department where he and his cow-workers were gently lectured upon his/their ethics and how the company expected peons to adhere to all rules.
The HR person went on and on, discussing how we the […]

Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

The Swiss_Mouse has listened to Al Gore’s Nobel winning plea and is doing his part to save the planet.
No, not really.
The Swiss_Mouse’s electric bills are OUTRAGEOUS. There are two bills that have hammered the mouse (The Mouse liked to be hammered, but not like this) since moving into his current abode. Natural Gas and Electric. […]

Worst January EVER(and it’s only the 15th)
January 15th, 2008 · No Comments
Well Not ever, but it’s bad from a financial point of view.
The Swiss_Mouse’s 401k came in and it was down.
Mrs. Swiss_Mouse’s Thrift plan statement came in, and it is WAY down.
Add to this that the Swiss_Mouse hasn’t paid his mortgage yet (thus depleting a nice chunk of the checking account) and the fact […]
Emergency Fund and Extra Payments
January 10th, 2008 · No Comments
The Emergency fund has been a constant theme on the Cheddarblog.
Though the Swiss_Mouse took a hit at the end of the year due to Mrs. Swiss_Mouse’s medical issues, his Emergency fund is still at a full 4 months of living expenses. He will get it back up to 6 months.
But once you are at 6 […]

The Swiss_Mouse is an edumakated mouse. That’s right the Swiss_Mouse does have a BA degree, a double major in fact.
But as the Swiss_Mouse heads into the late stages of his career, he wonders if he should be get more edumakation.
He’s mentioned his choices before, but the subject has come up again. Recently a cow-worker got […]

2007 Net-Worth Gain
January 8th, 2008 · No Comments
The Swiss_Mouse ended the year with a net-worth increase of 14.63%. Not bad, but not great. Kind of like, it’s Velvetta, but at least it was fresh Velvetta.
The disappointment comes from the fact that that he was at 14.73% in August!
In fact the entire end of the year was a roller coaster.
14.73% August 1
13.56% September […]
