The Swiss_Mouse took some time off but returns with some ideas about monthly and quarterly cheddar.
For a while, the Swiss_Mouse has wanted to write about his favorite stocks and closed-end mutual funds. A while back Mrs. Swiss_Mouse took a beating in the market because her cheddar investments were a bit too volatile. So Swiss_Mouse went looking for something less prone to ups and downs of the cheese industry and found some investments that paid tasty dividends.
Swiss_Mouse invested Mrs. Swiss_Mouse’s money in:
Global High Income Fund: This has been Swiss_Mouse’s best pick. It pays monthly dividends, and also has disbursed end of the year long term gain cheddar. Current GHI is paying 8.5% which is lower than it was when Swiss_Mouse First invested. However every month, Mrs. Swiss_Mouse gets a tasty wedge of cheddar in her retirement fund. GHI also doesn’t swing in price much. Only three times in almost 9 years of owning it, has Swiss_Mouse’s sell stop triggers fired. However Swiss_Mouse always buys back in later. This is too tasty.
Lexington Reality Trust: LXP is another strong long term cheddar producer. Paying out quarterly LXP is currently at a 7.10% dividend rate. While not as cheddar producing as GHI, LXP has been more steady in it’s net asset value. LXP has never tripped the sell stops on Mrs. Swiss_Mouse’s retirement investments. Swiss_Mouse encourages you to check out it’s long term chart.
Finally Liberty All Star Equity Fund: If you can call it such, USA is the disappointment of the pack. Swiss_Mouse knows that it pays 10.80% and pays out quarterly, however look at it’s NAV. It’s much more volatile than either of the two funds above. However at 10.80% ….it’s so tempting. USA has tripped the sell stops numerous times…however, Swiss_Mouse always buys back in the cheap. Watch for the bottoms on the charts.
NOW please note: Swiss_Mouse is NOT giving you investment advice nor should this be considered as such. Swiss_Mouse or Mrs. Swiss_Mouse do own this funds, they are merely telling you their story of cheddar generation.
