Tax Time: Is English spoken here?

March 24th, 2008 · No Comments

The Swiss_Mouse just finished his first go at taxes this year.

He is getting a refund!  Thank GOD his company’s Employee stock grants lost 50% of their value this year!!!!  (Sarcasm)

But the mouse is po’d.  HOW can the Federal Government possibly expect mere mortals to figure out the terminology used in these forms?  The Swiss_Mouse uses TaxCut and even the Engrish (sic) used there is so convoluted that the Swiss_Mouse doesn’t understand how the typical American much less the Mexican worker at McDonald’s could possibly understand it!

The Swiss_Mouse does have a college degree, but he is in yearly wonderment at the double speak that is so plentiful.  If the Federal forms weren’t bad enough, the Swiss_Mouse’s state forms are absolutely hilarious.  There is one statement about “residence county” versus “working county” that is so confusing the Swiss_Mouse has to read it three or four times until he finally has a few beers.  At that point it makes sense.

Come on, John/Hillary/Obama!  Don’t tax us anymore!  Reform the freakin’ tax code and get this crap straightened out.
