Cheddarblog

As mentioned in previous posts, the Swiss_Mouse has been spending more time lately doing more thinking than blogging.  Not a bad thing.

The Swiss_Mouse has been trying to decide on how best to head down this road of internet cheddar.  He had categorized (all mice hate this word)  his ideas.  Prioritized his ideas.  Evaluated his ideas.  Ultimately the question to be answered is how to best collect internet cheddar.

The potentials can be heaped into these categories:

1. Blogs
2. Feeds
3. Referral
4. Other

BLOGS:

The Swiss_Mouse has ideas for several more blogs.

• One about his day at work on the wheel (both humorous and pathetically tragic at the same time)
• One about a particular ailment that the Swiss_Mouse has.
• One about well, it’s not a blog, but blog is the best format…
• One specifically for “Blogging for Dollars”

Pros:  A blog can be set up relatively easily.  Once it gets going, while requiring maintenance, it’s subject matter is the driving factor.

Cons: Time.  It takes a lot of time.  Plus, unless the readership is large, the cheddar may not be easily made.

FEEDS:

The Swiss_Mouse isn’t exactly sure how this would work, but possibly setting up some kind of feeds site.  One that basically pulls information from other sources, collects, categorizes and displays.

Pros:  After set up, this could be an “automatic” site that just runs on it’s own.

Cons: Not exactly sure how to get feeds up and going.

REFERRAL:

Whether from Amazon, Cafepress or other sites, build a site that runs on its own.  No blogging, just linking and collecting of cheddar.

Pros: Less work than blogging.

Cons: Can traffic really be driven to these sites?

OTHER:

The Swiss_Mouse leaves this to be a very generic category.  But he thinks of it in terms of he has various skills, services, utilities and tools that he might be able to distribute and sell.

Pros: Possible automatic site.

Cons: Is anyone interested?

Conclusion:

Originally the Swiss_Mouse was going to head in the direction of blogging.  However he now realizes that the Cheddarblog might be his only “true” blog for now, and that he might work or the more automatically running sites, like the referral and feed sites.

Blogging is tough business.  You have to have fresh and inventive content and update frequently.  The Swiss_Mouse is almost too lazy for that.
